Abstract

The article is devoted to the disclosure of the peculiarities of the revolutionary events in Italy with Austria of 1848-1849 in the coverage of the journal "Vestnik of Europe". On the pages of the magazine traced the background of the revolution, the course of the struggle of Venice with the Austrian Empire and its consequences. The problem of the strategy and tactics of the warring parties, the economic and political beard in the Lombardo-Venetian kingdom are considered. Analyzed the struggle of the national Italy, the patriotism of the people. The coverage of the magazine " Vestnik of Europe " identifies the general problems of the defeat of Italy, its political fragmentation. A comparative analysis is made of the Venetian army and the army of Count Radetsky at the beginning of the revolutionary events and at the end. The complex of relations on the eve and during the revolution of Italy with the Austrian Empire of 1848-1849, their bourgeois-democratic character and the absolutist regime are traced. The result of the research is the issue of the 1866 journal, in which the national liberation movement of 1848-1849 was examined and analyzed in detail. The role of the people of Italy is described in detail, having never before been so widely involved in the struggle for national liberation, state defense and democratic change. The events are widely traced among the urban masses about the spread of their national identity. In the magazine’s analysis, the article traces the populist movement, its struggle with the use of political forces, the expulsion of the Austrians from Milan, the heroic resistance of Rome and Venice. From the conclusions of the article, the characteristic of Italy’s defeat of the revolution and its impetus for the development of industrial civilization, the creation of an internal market for an industrial revolution and the formation of a national identity in the further struggle for unification can be traced. A comparative analysis of the defeat of the revolutionary events between the coverage of the magazine “Vestnik of Europe” and the research of Russian and English historians takes place.
