Abstract

The article describes global geopolitical processes taking place around the Caspian Sea and the geopolitical interests of Russia, the USA, Turkey, Iran and other countries that are active participants in these processes. The struggle of the world countries for energy, raw materials, capital, markets, which are the most pressing problems of modern international relations, and their analysis were summarized. It is noted that Azerbaijan was one of the countries with rich natural resources has always been the focus of attention of geopolitical forces. However, the Azerbaijani people could benefit from oil, one of these resources, only at the end of the 20th century - after the restoration of independence. This opportunity was realized by a new oil strategy, which is the product of the talent of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and prepared oil diplomacy for the implementation of this strategy. The geopolitical and geo-economic importance of Azerbaijan in the region is undoubtedly important for Russia, which is the main center of power of the region, for the West, trying to become a new transnational center of power in the region, as well as for other interested countries. Russia, not looking up from the traditional imperialist views, tried to maintain its influence over the countries of the Caspian basin, especially over the hydrocarbon reserves of Azerbaijan. From the studies that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the main cause of events taking place in the global geoeconomic space for Caspian oil lies in the rich oil of the Caspian Sea, in significant changes in its export route and forces in the region. Azerbaijan, which has become the center of transnational projects in the field of oil, gas, transport and communications connecting East-West, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Europe, is not only trying to solve the problems of its country and people, but is also one of the key factors of the global global energy supply, regional integration, mutually beneficial cooperation of the Eurasian region and all nations of the world.
