In the article was analyzed the condition of the vegetable canning industry of Ukraine, trends and prospects of its development in a market economy. The problems of food security of the country, formation and functioning of the vegetable industry, problems of its development in the country were considered. The main ways of solving problems were proposed. It was considered that the factors of successful operation of many large vegetable canning enterprises in the current market conditions are the development of all-season directions of production and sale of products, cooperation between them and agricultural enterprises or the creation of own raw material base. One of the directions of the exit from the vegetable crisis is to increase the production of high-quality, competitive products at affordable prices for the population and which has the potential to enter the external markets of canned food.
