Abstract

This article is devoted to the requirements definition for modern principals, in particular through the definition of their administrative competence. It is emphasized that the head of an educational institution should have skills of new thinking, related to the penetration of management in the administrative activities of heads of educational institutions. The emphasis is placed on the fact that the formation of the corporate culture of an educational institution is of paramount importance: vision of the mission of the educational institution, realization of the goals, creation of a system of values of social significance, ensuring high motivation of administrative actions, etc. The author has identified the problems of the current state of professional competence of heads of universities, has conducted analysis of research on managerial qualities of the present-day head of an educational institution, and has identified ways to improve them through the system of postgraduate training and self-education.
