The article deals with the issue of planning of local economic development because of Ukraine's integration into the international economic space. Attention focused on an important tool for activating local economic development, namely: cooperation. The cooperation of public and private sectors of the economy, cooperation of authorities of different levels of government as well as cooperation of authorities, business environment and public is considered. The general features of possible forms of cooperation defined. The opportunities provided by cross-border cooperation outlined. There are arguments supporting feasibility of involving the public in the planning of local economic development. The dependence of orientation of local economic development projects for Ukraine on integration processes is determined. Priority projects of local economic development for amalgamated territorial communities are noted (creation of co-operatives, establishment of local development agencies, arrangement of priority business development areas), as well as risks that prevent the introduction of basic instruments of local economic development from the position of amalgamated territorial communities.
