Abstract

Various theories of motivation, which have become the most widespread, are studied. Their characteristics and essence are determined. According to the results of the study, it has been proved that each of the identified theories has a rational part, but the process of motivation and the application of theories is complicated by the fact that even the views on the motivation concept definition are not yet sufficiently formed. The views of different authors on the formation of the motivation concept are researched. According to the results of the study, the most widespread views on the motivation concept definition have been formed. These definitions give grounds for considering personnel motivation as a very diverse and complex phenomenon that needs to be studied comprehensively. A more detailed interpretation of the notion of motivation can be formulated taking into account that the decisive role in this process belongs to the values, interests and needs of man, as well as to the stimuli, that is, external factors. Thus, the effectiveness of the motivational tools can change over time. In the new environment, there are new needs for employees. This requires the use of new tools. From a psychological point of view, motivation is a process that manages the actions of a particular person. The combination of all means of influencing the behavior of the worker creates a system of motivation. The system of motivation is a set of needs and incentives influenced by an employee. Taking into account the research results, the analysis of the stimulation's mechanisms state among trading and operational personnel, on the example of the retail chain of "Silpo" stores, was conducted. According to the results of the study, a table of the relationship between the tasks of motivation and the tools for their achievement, which form the motivational system of the "Silpo" trading network, was generated. The characteristics and specific factors that determine the use of certain mechanisms of personnel motivation are defined. Recommendations were developed for the further development of motivation methods in individual structural divisions of the "Silpo" network.
