The concept of market transformations in the development of energy enterprises is clarified on the example of the power supply sector. The basis of market transformations in energy is highlighted. The current state of investment support for the implementation of transformational changes in the field of electricity supply has been analyzed. The relevance of the project activity for ensuring the implementation of measures for technical upgrading and modernization of the equipment industry infrastructure as a necessary condition for implementation of strategic development programs of the domestic fuel and energy complex (FEC) as well as the for achievement of compliance with international requirements and obligations was substantiated. The content and advantages of the project activity for the implementation of changes in the domestic energy sector are summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of implementation of project activity for power enterprises are highlighted. The main types of projects in the activity of enterprises are determined on the basis of their classification, taking into account the specifics of the project activity such as the scope of implementation, project objectives, terms of execution, cost. The ways of expanding of project activity use, in particular for electricity supply companies, by considering different types of project activity and allocating the development projects that are in line with the program documents and plans for the development of the fuel and energy complex are proposed. Such approach, in contrast to the established investment procedures, consider the possibilities of attracting the project stakeholders interested in the project and projects aimed at not only commercial but also charitable, social, environmental and other results of development planning. On the basis of the research results of the implementation of the project activity in the practice of the electricity supply company, there were identified shortcomings and obstacles that need to be addressed to improve the efficiency of investing in the development of energy companies through project activities. Areas of activation of the energy companies’ project activity are offered.
