Abstract

The relevance of studying modern instruments of mathematical modeling of ecological and economic processes is determined by the necessity of finding the optimal mechanisms for ensuring sustainable development of regions and stimulating green modernization of the Ukrainian economy. It has been established that the region is a natural-socio-economic system of unprecedented complexity that is under the influence of natural and economic patterns, is subject to the action of many heterogeneous random factors and is objectively inclined to a high level of risk of equilibrium loss. The main task of regional development is to find a balance of interests between the needs for certain types of economic activity development in the region, the social parameters enhancement and the environment preservation. The most effective means of finding this balance is determined by the corresponding economic and mathematical tools. Moreover, the necessity of implementing such interaction on the conditions of balanced support of the national economy functioning in terms of reproductive, technological, activity-specific and external macroeconomic proportions determines the use of the "cost-release" balance-sheet method and the balance models based on it. The use of the integrated ecological and economic indicator, calculated by application of single- or three-factor functions (taking into account economic investments, environmental investments and organizational and structural changes), has been substantiated; it illustrates the mutual influence (interaction) of economic and environmental investments at the regional level. The indicator has the potential for application in management activities, since it provides, in particular, with the ability to determine how the planned economic development will affect the environment.
