The article deals with the peculiarities of the formation and development of startup companies in Ukraine in the context of their multiplicative impact on the competitive development of the domestic high technology market and the economy of the country as a whole. On the basis of an institutional approach, the Ukrainian market for information technology startups (as the most common form of start-ups) has been studied. Based on the developed characteristics of the development of domestic start-ups and the study of problems arising in the process of technology transfer, the ways and means of stimulating their development are proposed. The research analyzes the scientific and applied aspects of startup management in Ukraine: the definition of a startup and its features is specified; systematization of the problems of theory and practice of management of startups; outlined the prospects for the development of startups in Ukraine and the urgency of professional management of them. As a result, Ukraine has a significant innovative potential of startups, including highly skilled engineering resources, an appropriate infrastructure and an ecosystem for startups. As a result, there is a growing number of startups that are recognized on the international scene and are receiving funding from foreign investors. Important ways to increase the efficiency of domestic start-ups in the international market are: obligatory assessment of the innovative potential of the startup and potential market capacity; access to the international market with a high-quality innovative product with a potentially large market; forming a cohesive team of people who really care about the cause; concentration of efforts on one of the most important goals; careful monitoring of consumer demand changes and flexible and timely response to it. It is noted that domestic start-ups should pay more attention to the novelty and originality of their projects in order to take leading positions in the international market and become profitable.
