Abstract

The article gives a brief analysis of the history and development of the Lower Danube Euroregion and its activities in the field of cross-border cooperation in the context of foreign economic transactions between the Odesa region of Ukraine and the neighboring territories of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, in particular foreign trade in goods and services between separate territorial units. The theoretical bases of the concept of "transborder cooperation", the purpose and the target direction of territorial power in creation of Euroregions, as well as factors influencing their development and successful functioning in modern conditions are considered. The analysis of indicators of certain areas of foreign economic activities of participants in the Euroregion "Lower Danube" was made, SWOT analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats was made to determine the available reserves for further development of the euro area and its participants. As a result of SWOT-analysis, a generalized matrix of factors influencing the development of the Lower Danube Euroregion is constructed. The problems of further development of the Euroregion, in particular in the development of transport sphere, environmental problems, problems of insufficient financing, decrease of investment activity of subjects of foreign economic activity and insufficient popularization of the sphere of international tourism are highlighted. Some organizational measures are proposed for improving the external economic relations of the Euroregion "Lower Danube" and expansion of external operations, in particular due to investment and innovation activity, creation of techno-park structures and implementation of joint projects in various spheres. The possible positive aspects of foreign investment in the Lower Danube Euroregion are summarized in the form of social, economic, scientific, technical, legal and cultural effects.
