The purpose of this study is the need to analyze the current state and trends in the production of sheep products and justify further action for its further effective development. Research methodology. The research process uses a dialectical method of cognition, a systematic approach to the study of economic phenomena and processes; abstract-logical method - for generalizations and formulation of conclusions; empirical - a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the object of study; historical - structuring in time the main trends in the development of the studied market; comparative analysis - comparison of indicators and identification of the dynamics of their changes over time; tabular - display of the obtained results, graphic - visual display of the results of price ranks of the main products of sheep breeding; statistical groupings - to divide countries into groups by various factors. The results of the article are that it considers the current state and trends in sheep development in Ukraine. The dynamics of the sheep and goat population was analyzed, the volumes of wool and meat production were considered, and their structure was studied. The main problems of this industry are revealed. In the course of the research, proposals were formed to solve the problems currently facing the sheep industry in Ukraine. Practical significance. These research results can be used by public administration in determining the national policy of sheep breeding, the formation of a strategy for its development, taking into account export opportunities in the short and long term.
