The article analyzes the main aspects of staff stimulation. The relationship between employee stimulation and improvement of innovative activity at the enterprise is considered. Current trends in the use of various categories of employees in the performance of scientific research and development, by categories of personnel for 2017-2020, have been analyzed. It was determined that the main factors causing the tendency to reduce the number of qualified personnel involved in innovative activities include: low level of remuneration; lack of an effective system for stimulating innovative activity; availability of labor migration to EU countries; low level of innovative culture; lack of close interaction between all stakeholders of the innovation process at the level of the state, region and business environment; lack of allocation of time resources for free scientific research; insufficient opportunities for individual planning of working hours. Systems and types of stimulation of the company's personnel are described, we also investigated the use of direct and indirect methods of stimulation, which are used to improve innovative activity based on foreign experience. A system of measures to improve the motivational system has been developed and the need to borrow foreign experience in labor stimulation has been substantiated. In order to intensify innovative activities for Ukrainian enterprises, there is a need to create an effective system of stimulating personnel to such activities. Based on the principles of comprehensiveness, balance, stability, fairness and transparency, economic expediency, flexibility and adaptability, such a system should cover various directions, forms and methods of stimulating both individual employees and enterprise divisions. At the current stage, relying on the experience of foreign companies, it is necessary to use a combination of economic and moral stimulation methods at Ukrainian enterprises.
