Sirenko Anna Olvinskaya J., Sirenko A. (2024) Anton Borynevych and his role in the development of statistical science and practice. Ed.: V.V. Kovalenko (ed.-in-ch.) and others [Anton Borynevych ta jogo rol u rozvytku statystychnoi nauky ta praktyky; za red.: V.V. Kovalenko (gol. red.)], Scientific Bulletin of the Odesa National Economic University (ISSN 2313-4569), Odesa National Economics University, Odesa, No. 12 (325), pp.7-12. The article examines the contributions of Anton Borynevych to the evolution of statistical science and its practical
applications, particularly in the realm of socio-economic analysis. The purpose of the article is a comprehensive analysis of
the scientific works of Anton Borynevich, as well as an assessment of their impact on the development of statistical science and
modern practice. The systematic analytical method was used in writing the article; the grouping method was used to systematize
the data. The primary purpose of the study is to provide a comprehensive review of Borynevych’s scientific works and evaluate
their impact on the development of statistical methodologies, with an emphasis on demographic studies and household censuses.
Particular attention is given to his innovative approaches to collecting and analyzing demographic and economic data, which
remain significant for both historical and contemporary practices in socio-economic systems management. The study explores
how Borynevych’s methods have shaped modern statistical practices, including their application in state governance, business
optimization, and scientific research. A focus is placed on the adaptability of his statistical innovations to address the challenges
of digitalization, globalization, and increasingly complex data systems in the 21st century. The research highlights his role at the
Odessa Statistical Bureau, where he developed methodologies that influenced urban and rural planning, resource allocation, and
public policy. His pioneering integration of statistical science into socio-economic analysis laid the groundwork for more accurate
and actionable decision-making frameworks. The findings underscore the enduring relevance of Borynevych’s methodologies,
which serve as vital tools for analyzing demographic trends, socio-economic dynamics, and spatial resource distribution. By
integrating his approaches with advanced digital technologies, such as geoinformation systems and Big Data analytics, modern
practitioners can enhance the accuracy of forecasts and the effectiveness of policy development. The study concludes that adapting
Borynevych’s household census techniques and socio-economic analysis frameworks to contemporary technological contexts
offers substantial opportunities for advancing statistical science and addressing complex socio-economic challenges. This study
underlines the necessity of revisiting and adapting historical methodologies to ensure their relevance in the rapidly evolving field
of modern statistics. Anton Borynevych, statistical science, socio-economic analysis, household census, demographic studies. JEL classification: J110; DOI: https://doi.org/10.32680/2409-9260-2024-12-325-7-12 UD classification: 311:314.113
