Abstract

In today's world, countries cannot function without deep economic integration. The project of the Eurasian Economic Union, a new type of integration of post-Soviet countries, based on the equality of political sovereignty, territorial integrity, common language and partners. This article is devoted to the problems and prospects of economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The comparative analysis of social and economic development of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union is carried out. The problems of analyzing the potential of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are analyzed by calculating indicators characterizing the dynamics of foreign trade with a view to determining the factors of competitiveness of Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries and identifying threats to national economic security. The article analyzes the economic potential of the EAEU countries based on a comparison of the main macroeconomic indicators. An assessment is made of the state of openness of the Russian economy and the economies of the EAEU countries, highlighting three main indicators of openness (export quota, import quota and foreign trade quota). Particular attention is paid to the study of competitiveness indicators of the EAEU countries. Based on the analysis, a conclusion was made on the need to diversify Kazakhstan's economy, as well as on the importance of the transition from the export of raw materials to the sale of finished products and the stimulation of import substitution, and the development of a unified economic security strategy for the EAEU. A set of measures to create conditions for sustainable economic growth of the EAEU member countries is considered.
